Club Service Projects

Our service projects reflect the Altrusa motto of "Leading to a Better Community". The focus of the Lawrence club is to improve literacy in our community so that individuals may contribute to the community to the best of their ability.

Projects meet a wide variety of needs including those which impact women and children. Our 2011-2012 projects are listed below and detailed later in this section.

We also are involved in the community through monthly Service Projects with local organizations that need “worker bees” or funds for their events. Our 2011-2012 monthly projects included assistance with:

August:            Red Dog Run benefitting the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence

November:       Festival of Trees to benefit the Shelter

December:       Family Promise and Habitat for Humanity Contributions

January:           Douglas County Senior Center Contributions

February:         Help Us Learn, Give Us Hope Collection and Contributions

March:             Chair-ity Benefit Auction for Tiny-K Early Childhood Intervention

April:                Health Care Access Half-Marathon Course Workers

May:                 Red Shoe Run to benefit the Willow Domestic Violence Center
