Check back soon for the date of our 4th Annual Event to be held in 2019!

"Great success!", "a thoroughly enjoyable evening", and "had a really terrific time" were all heard Wednesday evening, February 21st at Maceli's Banquet Hall, after the third annual Authors and Appetizers. The event is sponsored by Altrusa International of Lawrence, KS, Inc., and this year's program featured two local authors, Julie Tollefson (Flash and Bang, her main topic) and Pam Eglinski (The Can-Can Girl and the Mysterious Woman In Pink was her topic). Besides hearing from both authors about their journey, a silent auction was held featuring such jewels as a weeks’ stay at a condo in Vail, Colorado, assorted baskets containing all manner of goodies and various items including book baskets donated by both authors. Around $6,000 was raised for the Altrusa Foundation which funds several local projects including Books for Babies at LMH, local scholarships and donations to Audio Reader. Upwards of 110 people attended this year’s event.

Maceli's menu for the evening was Italian salad, assorted sausage and cheese platter with garlic cream cheese, Rotini pasta with roasted red pepper sauce, double tomato bruschetta, and artichoke spread both served in phyllo cups. For dessert Altrusa members provided bagged cookies for purchase.
